Anne Louise Varner Lutz

Anne Louise Varner Lutz of Columbus, Georgia at the age of 99 passed away Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at her residence.

A private graveside burial will be held at Fort Moore Main Post Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 PM, Saturday, November 18, 2023 at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.

Anne was born May 29, 1924 in Albany, Georgia to the late Richard Idus Varner and Louise Anne Jordan Varner. She graduated Valedictorian from Smithville High School, Smithville, Georgia then attended Georgia State College for Women and Mercer University; she married Lt. Karl C Lutz in 1943 and then began army life supporting her husband and being a mother to their five children. She had many travels and adventures abroad and across the United States. Anne was a member of Morningside Baptist Church for over 60 years and a founding member of the Morningside Widows Ministry which she cherished. She loved her many family members with all her heart and leaves many sweet memories of her kind spirit. Other than her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Karl C. Lutz, her brothers Harold Varner, Sr. and Miles Varner, daughter-in-laws Patricia Lutz and Phyllis Isom Lutz.

Anne is survived by her children, Michael J. Lutz, Christopher K. Lutz, Carol L. Blackmon (Phillip), Kathy L. Pound (John), Scott D. Lutz (Sandra). Grandchildren: Bryan Lutz (Shawna), David Lutz (Andrea), Leah B. Foster (Kirk), Bradley Blackmon (Summer), Karly Pound (Fiancé, Sheldon Steines), ten great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the loving staff of Covenant Woods also her special caregivers Mittie, Donna, Sheila and Brenda. The Lutz family loves and appreciates you all.
