Ann Mitchell was born December 2, 1953, to the late Illie and Margot Willis. Oma, as her grandchildren affectionately called her, was humble and kind. To be in Ann's presence was to be uplifted by her unconditional love and support. She was the most caring and nurturing mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
She showed her love by decorating for friends and family; she made every space clean and beautiful, and her idea of a "pop of color" was adding something white. Ann was quite the fashionista; she was the person everyone sent pictures of shoes and clothing to before purchasing them. Christmas was her favorite holiday; she found immense joy in decorating trees, making her mother's famous German cookies, and hosting family brunch.
Ann was blissfully retired from Synovus. She thrived in retirement as an avid tennis player, the loudest cheerleader in the stands at her grandchildren’s sporting events, and an enthusiastic dancer to Mustang Sally at wedding receptions. She found peace by tending to her flowers and reconnecting with nature.
Ann lived each day full of life and laughter. She was always smiling, embracing everyone within reach, and had tremendous inner-strength.
Our beloved Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Illie and Margot Willis. She leaves, to cherish her memories, a loving sister, Floss McGlothlin; loyal and faithful children, Amy (James) Hagler, Shannon Mitchell (Adrienne Hixon), and Nathan Mitchell; her devoted partner of 16 years, Walter Henry; cherished grandchildren, Illeigh Emanuel, Cole Stephens, Sydney Hagler, Avery Mitchell, Raleigh Hagler, Reese Crews, and Anna-Kay Hagler; treasured nephews, David and Matthew McGlothlin; great-niece and nephew, Marietta and Willis Loomer, and dearest friends Pat Blount and Judy Hawk.
