Andrew Nicholas Sterl

Andrew Nicholas Sterl, 87, of Columbus, GA died Monday, June 19, 2023 at his residence.

Services will be held at a later date according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.

Andrew was born January 28,1936 in Windsor, ON, Canada to the late Nicholas Sterl and Caroline Pierre. After graduating high school Andrew joined the United Sates Army, where he served an illustrious career that spanned over 23 years. He served his country as a Tactical Communications Chief. Andrew’s service took him to many foreign lands including Vietnam, and Germany where he met his future wife Marianne of over 57 years. His awards and decorations include the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry.

After his military service, Andrew continued to serve as a Department of the Army civilian for 26 years. Andrew was a hard worker and a great provider to his family. He cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren and family. In his free time, he enjoyed reading, taking care of his grandchildren, and providing for his family.

He is survived by his loving wife Marianne, sons, Karsten Sterl, and Christopher Sterl, and his five grandchildren, Michael, Allie, Annasten, Kelli, and Gabrielle who will miss him greatly.
