Almon Lee "Dick" McCormick, 83, of Columbus, GA died Saturday, December 7, 2013 at his residence.
Memorial services will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday, December 14, 2013 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend James Walker and Mr. Walter Bud Adkinson officiating. The family will receive friends Friday, December 13, 2013 from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, GA.
Mr. McCormick was born February 20, 1930 in Lawrence County, AL, son of the late Herman Lee McCormick and Hattie Mae Plunket. He retired as a mechanic with Bibb Mill and West Point Pepperell. He was a member of Johnson Chapel Methodist Church in Hartsell, AL.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter; Judy Carol Storey, his granddaughter; Brittany Denise McCormick, and his sisters; Opel Johnston and Zula Terrentine.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years; Blanche McCormick of Columbus, GA, his daughter; Jimmie Carlene Walker (James) of Arlington, TX, his sons; Randy Lee McCormick and Ronnie Wayne McCormick both of Columbus, GA, brother-in-laws; Richard Storey of Toney, AL and James Terrentine, sister-in-law; Pauline Williams; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the American Heart Association, 7167 Mobley Walk Drive, Columbus, GA 31904 or the American Kidney Foundation, 11921 Rockville Pike, Suite #300, Rockville, MD 20852.
