Alma Jean Hickey

Alma Jean Hickey, 84, of Columbus, Georgia, passed away on June 21, 2022.  She was born Alma Jean Parker on July 10, 1937 to JC and Alma (Bell) Parker.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Friday, June 24, 2022 in the chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Ken Dawson officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 PM Thursday, June 23, 2022 at the funeral home. Interment will be held at Parkhill Cemetery.

Jean was born on July 10, 1937 to the late JC and Alma (Bell) Parker. She married George Hickey on September 3, 1954 and they were married for 67 years. She worked various secretarial jobs throughout her career.  She began working for State Farm Insurance in 1957 and retired after 35 years as an insurance claims adjuster.

Jean was an avid reader and enjoyed crocheting baby blankets for all her family and friends expecting bundles of joy.  She also enjoyed craft making for many years.

Other than her parents she is preceded in death by her, brother-in-law, Ronald Elliott, nephew, Paul Elliott and daughter-in-law, Patricia (Cappabianco) Hickey.

Jean is survived by her husband George Hickey; sister Joyce Elliott; children, Jerry(Margaret) Hickey, Cliff Hickey, Steve Hickey; four grandchildren, Loni (John) DeVincenzo, Christopher (Ashley) Hickey, Kelli (Matthew) Makaryk, Ryan Hickey; six great-grandchildren, Kyleigh Makaryk, Hailey DeVincenzo, Cali Hickey, Giuliana DeVincenzo, Andrew Makaryk, Austin Makaryk; nephew Richard (Patty) Elliott; niece Jeanne (Sam) Falgout; and several great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.
