Alison Hensley, 79, died Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at St. Francis Hospital.
She will buried in England at a later date.
Alison Hensley, born and educated in England, where she studied art for five years, Alison grew up with a love for drawing and painting but had to postpone her artistic endeavors while raising a family of six children.
In 1979, while residing in Louisiana, with one child remaining at home, she was finally able to pursue her art career. She has since then entered and been accepted in numerous exhibits, had a One-Woman Show, and won awards in Georgia and Louisiana.
Believing art to be a continuous learning process, Alison has attended many workshops, including one under the tutelage of the prestigious portrait artist Daniel E. Greene, N.A.
Alison moved to Columbus, Georgia in 1982 and became active in the Columbus Artists' Guild, serving on various committees and as vice president of the guild.
