Algie Lonnie Underwood, Jr. 89 of Columbus died Thursday at Vista-Care of Franciscan Woods.
Graveside services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday September 12, 2009 at Parkhill Cemetery with Rev. Jerry Speer and Rev. David Howle officiating. The family will recieve friends this evening from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at McMullen Funeral Home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus.
Mr. Underwood was born October 02, 1919 in Union Point, GA son of the late Algie Lonnie Underwood, Sr. and Beulah Hallman Underwood. He retired with over 15 years of service as an Agriculture Inspector with the State of Georgia.
In addition, he was a charter member of Edgewood Baptist Church and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Mr. Underwood is preceded in death by his wife Rudine Burton Underwood and two sons Donald and Thomas Underwood.
Survivors include four grand- children; Cheryl Hubbard (Jeff) of Fortson, GA, Kayrne Gang of Atlanta, GA, Kevin Underwood (Deborah) of Raleigh, NC, Kettredge Underwood (Eva) of Guyton, GA; eight great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.
