SSG (Ret.) Albert Michael Wire, 87, of Columbus, GA died Sunday, October 1, 2017 in Columbus, GA.
The family will receive friends Thursday, October 5, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907. A private burial will be held at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA.
Mr. Wire was born March 15, 1930 in York, PA son of the late John and Sally Wunsch Wire. He retired after 23 years as a Staff Sergeant for the U.S. Army. During his military career, he served in the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War, also earning a Purple Heart and Bronze Star.
Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years, Emma Reinhardt Wire of Columbus, GA, sons, Harry Wire (Elena) of LaGrange, GA, Jimmy Wire (his girlfriend, Kim Sherrer) of Columbus, GA and Herman Wire of Columbus, GA, brother, Theodore Wire of York, PA, grandchildren, Alexis Wire Raley (Braxton) and Ryan Wire (Joanna), great grandchildren, Logan, Asher and Madden, beloved nephew, Robert Hoskin (Joann), and many nieces and nephews.
