Mrs. Kilpatrick was born on August 23, 1920, the daughter of James Parker Nichols and Ethel Lee Nantz Nichols. She is predeceased by her beloved husband, James Hopton Kilpatrick, whom she married July 27, 1941.

She is survived by her two daughters, Belinda Kilpatrick Bailey of Seneca, SC, and Dr. Kathryn Kilpatrick Cheek and her husband, Dr. Benjamin Cheek, of Columbus, GA. "Mom/Nanny" is also survived by seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. The grandchildren are Ryan Bailey (Meredith), Aaron Bailey (Lauren), Leah Bailey Cooper (Kyle) and Jenna Bailey (Wes) who are Belinda's children, and Hugh Cheek (Morgan), Holly Cheek Thaw (Jay) and A.J. Cheek (Nellie), who are Kathryn's children. "Mom/Nanny" graduated Salutatorian from Fountain High School, where she was a Beta Club member. She worked both as a full-time mother and in the tobacco warehouse industry with her husband. Tending her gorgeous yard was a great joy in her life, and her yard won the "Yard of the Season" award from the Farmville Home and Garden club in 1997. Mrs. Kilpatrick was a member of Farmville United Methodist Church for over 70 years. She truly loved the meaning of Christmas morning and always insisted on saving her gifts to others as the last ones for opening so she could finish as a giver. She rode her bicycle into her late 80s, enjoyed visiting with friends and strangers, and found joy in providing random acts of kindness. She loved Farmville and completely believed that it is the center of the universe.
