Larry Caddell, 54, of Columbus, Georgia, went to be with the Lord on March 22, 2021.  He was surrounded by family and friends in his home, as he finished his battle with colon cancer.  Larry is survived by his loving wife of 13 years, Jenine, his three children, Kali (19), Laz (12), and Olive (10), and his mother, Liane.

Larry Clarence Richard Caddell was born on February 7, 1967, in Colorado Springs, to Liane Hoff Caddell and the late Larry D. Caddell.  Larry graduated from Shaw High School in Columbus in 1986.  He attended the University of Georgia and graduated from Columbus State University with a master’s degree in secondary education.  He was an English teacher at Carver High School for 11 years.

Larry was a loving husband, father, and friend, who committed his life to letting his soul shine with the love and likeness of Christ in all that he did.  He was a devoted member of St. Luke United Methodist Church, the New Journey Sunday School Class, and the Fight Club (a men’s Bible study and support group that Larry formed).

Larry held close his Pi Kappa Phi fraternity brothers and treasured those relationships that endured after college. He loved music and the relationships formed through the adventures of playing with and managing bands in Columbus and surrounding areas.  He had a profound impact on his beloved students at Carver High School, and his legacy will live on through them.

Larry’s ability to accept optimistically all that was laid before him and to love others unconditionally were the precepts of his life.  Even as he struggled physically over the last four years, he never lost his contagious smile, his desire to live life fully, and his joy-filled spirit.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

A memorial service to celebrate Larry’s life will be held at St. Luke United Methodist Church on Saturday, April 10th, at 1:00 p.m. in the Ministry Center.  COVID safety practices and protocols will be in place.  The service will also be live-streamed at saintlukecolumbus.org.

In lieu of flowers, Larry requested that contributions be made to Soullight Foundation, a scholarship he wanted to create for Carver High School students as they pursue college admission.  Those contributions can be sent to St. Luke United Methodist Church (P.O. Box 867, Columbus, GA  31902), earmarked for Soullight Foundation.
