Douglas “Doug” Hatley Jones, 84, of Columbus, GA died Saturday, August 13, 2022 at Piedmont Northside Hospital.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, August 18, 2022 in the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory with Dr. Tim Jones officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior at the funeral home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907. A private interment will be held at Parkhill Cemetery.
Doug was born September 12, 1937 in Columbus, GA to the late Clifford Thomas Jones and Anna Mae Hall Jones. He served as Columbus Fireman for over 25 years. Doug was a member of Britt David Baptist Church, Masonic Rosehill Lodge, graduated from Jordan High School in 1957 and was an avid Georgia Bulldogs Football fan. Doug was preceded in death by his son, Paul Douglas Jones and sister, Mae Corette Jones Smith.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Barbara Jones of Columbus, GA, daughter, Cindy Cavender (Mike) of Phenix City, AL, niece, September Lynn Smith Davies of Columbus, GA and her children, Dara Crouch (Eric) of Pine Mountain, GA, Melissa Ingle (Chaz) of Hamilton, GA, nephew, Timothy Allen Smith (Susan) of Ellerslie, GA and his child, Kari Kuykendall (Pat) of Ellerslie, GA.
