1st Sgt. (Ret.) William Glenn Gibson, 82, of Columbus, GA, died Friday, September 22, 2017 at his residence.
Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, September 28, 2017 at Lakeview Memory Gardens, 3800 US Hwy 431 N Phenix City, AL, 36867 according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
1st Sgt. Gibson was born April 26, 1935 in Utica, MS, son of the late Homer Emerson Gibson and Mattie Cagle Gibson. He retired from the army after 28 years of service. 1st Sgt. Gibson was an avid Alabama Fan, a member of the VFW, American Legion, and Black Hat Society and enjoyed bowling, fishing, and playing pool.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, William Gibson.
Survivors include his wife, Beverly Bowers Gibson of Columbus, GA; son, Mark Gibson (Anna) of Columbus, GA; step-daughter, Melissa Holman (Johnny) of Fortson, GA; brother, Bud Gibson (Peggy) of San Antonio, TX; sister, Janice Walker of Jackson, MS; 3 grandchildren, Mark, Joseph and Christopher; 3 step-grandchildren, Kennan, Michael, and Brent.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, www.stjude.org.
